The 22nd annual performance mashup celebrates the anniversary of the Woodstock Music and Art Fair of 1969. Three days of non-stop entertainment include more than 50 theater groups and performers on the Angel Island stage. Festivities begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Daley Plaza, where participants gather for a peaceful march to the theater's home in Lakeview.

Ticket options:Passes include access to unlimited performances and "come-and-go" privileges during one day ($10) or the entire weekend ($25).

Spring is blossoming its way into our windy city and what better way to prepare for her arrival than with a nostalgia filled garage sale!?!?  We've cleaned up the Ainslie House and to our suprise have been left with some pretty awesome garage sale loot…

Our third season is now drawing to a close – and what a season it's been! With our short-play festivals, Bastards of Young and And Then It Burst, we were thrilled to be able to stage no less than twelve new pieces for the very first time as well as collaborate with a score of new playwrights, directors, actors, and other theatre practitioners from Chicago and beyond. Our season's feature length, Ozma and Harriet, has also been a great feat in workshopping a new script from conception to its first staged realization. If you haven't seen Ozma and Harriet yet, there is still time! Buy tickets now before the show closes April 18th and see what critics are calling "intriguing" and "terrific date night fare that is a swift, funny and sexy comedy filled with satirical bite."

And don't worry, because things won't quiet down for Tympanic over the summer! The company is currently awaiting its pending designation of non-profit status, and also has some fun events planned for the warmer months as well as upcoming decisions about next season's shows! It is an exciting time for Tympanic and it is in this spirit of growth and excitement that we ask you for your support.

We are thrilled to have a full house again at the Tympanic headquarters (a.k.a our basement), as rehearsals for Bastards of Young are underway.  We've got a killer cast, killer scripts, killer directors, and a truly murderous production team.  This is sure to be a night of thrilling theatre.  If you are as excited as we are you can buy your tickets ahead of time right here.

After our next production meeting we will start giving you guys some sneak peeks into the behind the scenes action of Bastards of Young.  Keep an eye out for preliminary make-up desings, set sketches, and general concept ideas. We will also be continuing our Ripe for the Picking interview series with playwrights from the festival. 

We will also be hosting the POOR BASTARDS FUNDRAISER Sept, 16th from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m.  Come down to The Spot (4437 N. Broadway) for ALL YOU CAN DRINK, Karaoke, and Raffle prizes galore!  Some of the prizes include gift certificates, tickets to a production at Victory Gardens and much more.  All proceeds from the event will go towards production costs for the show.  Cause' Bastards need some lovin' too!

 BASTARDS OF YOUNG

 The name comes from a Replacements song (off of their album Tim for those keeping track) and to me, it’s pretty much a cool way to say we’ve got some brand new plays with a lot of energy, heart, and balls.  So many ten minute plays are gimmicky or fail to tell a complete story, and while a great deal of our scripts are definitely high concept, they take their concepts seriously.  There are no puns or wink-at-the-audience goofiness.  This isn’t to say they aren’t funny (some of them definitely are), but they’re wonderfully subtle with their cleverness.  Regardless of how crazy the subject matter of each script is, the writing presents itself as “this is how these characters would react in this situation.”  And more importantly, they all encompass our…

 That’s right!  Bet you didn’t see that one coming, eh?  Although Tympanic is still wholeheartedly dedicated to new work, we’ve retooled our priorities and aesthetic quite a bit.  Love it or hate it, here’s what we’re all about:
